Some of the greatest success stories in history have come from the most rocky of beginnings.
Walt Disney, Steven Spielberg, J.K. Rowling, Einstein, are just some of the many illustrating that even if the world around you thinks you wont succeed, a strong enough belief in yourself can prove them wrong.
Albert Einstein, today recognized as one of the most prominent minds in history, wasn’t able to speak until age 3. He dropped out of grade school at 15, and was told by one of his professors that he would never amount to anything due to his blatant views that school stifled him. If his teacher only knew…
J.K. Rowling was running on dreams and adrenaline after surviving a catastrophic divorce, left to raise her daughter on her own. She became clinically depressed and even contemplated suicide but never gave up on her big idea. What’s more, she was rejected by 12 publishers before finally getting her break, birthing perhaps one of the most impressive literary works of the day.
Would we overlook J.K. Rowling as her former self, knowing what we know about her today? Her brilliance? Creativity? Ability to persist?
Don’t write yourself off and don’t let other people tell you who you are. Everyone has a gift, and it’s your job to find that gift and your responsibility to share it with the rest of the world.
Realize, Visualize, Actualize:
This formula was coined by my brother Mike, who uses it to stimulate growth and motivation in his company culture.
– Realize:
Find your hidden gift, we all have one. Ask yourself, “what is special to me that I could share with the world? Make it a better place because of it?”
– Visualize:
Like watching a movie in your head only, you’re the writer, director, and the lead. See yourself on the big screen getting the book deal, creating a home, building an empire. By doing this you’re putting the other piece of your magnet steps ahead in the future and once its there, it pulls you with a force that can’t be seen.
– Actualize:
Make it happen. Start walking toward the magnet. Jump on any opportunity that could benefit your future self. It could be knowledge or an experience, or maybe a spontaneous adventure with a friend. Every journey you embark on is another brick for the future. Don’t question the process, believe in its reason.
Stay present. Sending vibrations of reinvention your way <3
