These times we are living in are wild! The world we once new has been indefinitely paused, and people are struggling to find a new normal.
Unfortunately, situations like this don’t help my natural tendency to harp on the hectic. Like many others, when something is foreign in my world my anxiety sky rockets. And it takes a lot of self control and deliberate effort to calm me down.
But i’m sharing with you a few things that i’m actively doing to help my anxiety when it kicks in.
6 tips to alleviate COVID anxiety:
1. Check your diet
When things get so dark and I start to question everything about who I am on this earth, I analyze what i’m eating. The more processed my diet the less positive I feel. Depleted nutrients and surplus of calories cause chemical imbalance’s which can trigger anxiety. 2. Get active
At least once a day and definitely when you start to feel anxious, move your body. Get some fresh air and connect with nature. Releasing endorphins is such good medicine for your mind.
3. Find a new hobby
If your like me and the hobby you did before COVID was shut down, it’s time to think outside the box. Yes, it stinks that I can’t ride horses right now, BUT, I can utilize this time to try something new. So i’ve decided to give golf a try. For a list of hobbies and new ideas, click here.
4. Journal
Writing has a really unique way of instant stress release. The picking up a pen, writing for five minutes, and putting down the pen brings a sense of accomplishment. This positive reinforcement to yourself really elevates your spirits.
5. Meditate
Anytime i’m feeling really anxious or things in the world don’t feel centered, I make an effort to meditate. Even 5 minutes a day of stillness can ground you. For more on what my meditation routine looks like, click here.
6. Read or watch something inspiring
Whichever you would naturally prefer..do it. But TURN OFF the loop of media thats streaming in from every channel. TV gives 18 hours of what could be said in 15 minutes. Know the facts and what mandates are being enforced but throw away the rest. Instead, focus on your life and what you want that too look like in 2 years. Re-Discover that passion of what excite’s you most in life and go off. For a list of some of the books i’ve read so far, check below ↓
Bruce Lipton- The Biology of Belief
I know it can be hard to imagine your future right now with things so uncertain but just remember what Abraham Lincoln said during his speech for presidential campaign at the Wisconsin State Fair… “This too shall pass.”
Stay present. Sending vibrations of reinvention your way <3
